Is Mitt Using the President's Race to Win the Presidential Race?

If you've been tracking the election online and/or on the news, which I hope you are, you have probably heard of Mitt's completely false allegations against our President's "work for welfare" policy. The lie-vertisment claims that the Obama administration has adopted a "a plan to gut the welfare reform by dropping work requirements". The ad continues to claim that "you wouldn't have to work and you wouldn't have to train for a job". FactCheck.org, a nonpartisan, nonprofit, monitor of the factual accuracy of what our politicians say, reports that Romney's attacks against Obama's welfare policies are, in fact, false. Under our presidents actual welfare policy, the states are allowed to reform their "work for welfare" requirements and no part of the 1996 Welfare law will be gutted. Mitt- what's with the lies? Why make up that Obama wants to cut the "work for welfare" requirements?

It is clear that these false allegations are pulling at the tassels of a very dark and low political stratedgey; using racism to get white people to vote for you. The most common misconception about welfare is the idea of the Welfare Queen. Does anyone remember when Ronald Reagan talked about the welfare queen? He described her driving her pink cadillac to cash in her welfare checks and using food stamps to buy her groceries (aka her liquor). This tactic was aimed at white voters who believed that the African American race were known to be freeloading, lazy, and uncivilized. All of these stereotypes are obviously untrue but yet politicians still try to provoke white people to believe the stereotypes. So why is Mitt telling voters that Obama is eliminating the work for pay requirements? Mitt is tapping into Reagan's welfare queen tactic almost 2 decades since its birth. Getting white voters to believe that "since Obama is black, he must only care about black people" is the feeling I get from this message. It's like saying that if you vote for Obama you may as well hand your hard earned income over to the welfare system where the queen is waiting to cash it in for a new diamond ring. The welfare queen is so degrading to African Americans and people who need welfare assistance (who, in fact, are primarily white) but I also find it degrading to white people that Mitt Romney's team would try to pull something so foul in this election. Clearly, the Romney team has no intentions of apologizing for their lies and its negative impact on increasing racist beliefs. It just goes to show how pathetic and impotent they really feel compared to Barack Obama when they need to resort to using something as superficial as his race against him...
