So, hopefully you have all heard about the military sequestration. Congress proposed this sequester that was created to push congress to come to some sort of an agreement with each other because everyone (so it seemed) was getting really tired of the gridlock and the debt. The proposed sequester would damage extremely important facilities in the US Military that you wouldn't think to ever get rid of. However, when it finally came time for congress to get together and figure out how to lower our debt, they did what congress does best and never came to a conclusion. Democrats offered multiple compromises but Republicans never really gave those a chance. In the end, the military sequester is going to have to cut tons of programs that will significantly harm the enrollment rate and morale of the institution.
What really ticks me off about all of this is the fact that they may cut the education program that is the reason many of our soldiers enlist in the first place; because they were told that if they served their country, if they put their lives on the line for America, that they could go to college. I cannot stand this. You're gonna take away what you guaranteed to these people? It's realllly bad when congress breaks their promise but it feels especially bad when the people on the other side of this deal are saying "I'm willing to give my life for you." There is no bigger sacrifice than that, is there? And what do you have to sacrifice in this situation; losing a little face by working with the other party? Big whoop. That's really, incredibly messed up.
