You're Given Me a Head-Akin

Since last Sunday, Todd Akin, who is running for a Senate seat in Missouri,  has been in the media spotlight ever since his outrageous remarks regarding whether rape victims should have access to an abortion. His argument that there is "legitimate rape" outraged the country and he has since released an apology stating that he "misspoke". Hopefully you all know what I am talking about, but have you heard this guys theories on gay marriage? I will just quote him directly, because no paraphrasing in the world could convey the pure stupidity coming from Akin's mouth: "From a practical point of view, to preserve our civilization and society, it's important for us to preserve marriage... Anybody who knows something about the history of the human race knows that there is no civilization which has condoned homosexual marriage widely and openly that has long survived." Are you kidding me? What "civilizations" are Akin talking about? If I could, I would extend Akins comment to say that there is no civilization which has condoned heterosexual marriage openly that has long survived. I could also say that there is no civilization that has condoned the use of peanut butter and jelly together in between slices of bread openly during every lunch that has long survived. Folks, this is just a bunch of bologna (getting my sandwich references?) layered with homophobia and lies. Can you believe that people would actually vote for this guy? I need an advil...
